The Hancock County Locally Grown Food Project is a network of restaurants, farms, and food producers originally organized in 1995 by the Hancock County Planning Commission, the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, and the Downeast Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. Our goal is to bring the freshest farm and ocean foods into restaurants in Hancock County, Maine. By linking together area restaurants with local food producers, we help support the Downeast area's maritime and cultural heritage, it's unique environment, and the local economies.

In Hancock County, the Downeast traditions of family, farming, ocean harvesting, and rural craftsmanship meet the style and talent of chefs who are inspired by coastal Maine foods and flavors. A Downeast cuisine flourishes here thanks to ample opportunities for chefs to use the freshest grown-to-order ingredients possible and because eating well is of such importance to residents, visitors, chefs, and farmers alike. The local abundance of fresh vegetables and meats, the proximity to the ocean's bounty, and the gathering of folks with an eye for fine ingredients makes the Hancock County region a place where extraordinary food is truly linked to the landscape.
